Padma Lakshmi Bio
Padma Parvati Lakshmi (born September 1, 1970) was born in Chennai. Lakshmi lost her parents at the age of 2 years old. Her mother left India to avoid the stigma associated with divorce in India and emigrated to the United States. Lakshmi resided in Chennai with her maternal grandparents for two years before moving to the United States. She has a younger half-brother from her father's side as well as an older sister. Both her parents divorced later. Lakshmi is a woman who has a last name with the Hindu goddess of prosperity and wealth was born in New York and then in Los Angeles with her mother and stepfather. She visited her family in India several times a year, and then returned for a few months. Padma Lakshmi discovered acting was something she was interested in during 1999.
