Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell has been a chef, television personality in the United States as well as an instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education. She is host of Secrets of a Restaurant Chef at Food Network. Food Network. With her signature spiky blond hair and pumped-up personality Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of eating out and offers straightforward, simple techniques to master for the at-home cook in her Food Network series Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell is also a part of some of the top restaurants located in New York, studied the cuisine and culture of Italy and competed in the Food Network's Iron Chef America. Burrell, who grew up within New York State's Upstate, developed an early passion for cooking. After obtaining an English and Communications degree at Canisius College in Buffalo NY she pursued her passion for the restaurant business by enrolling at The Culinary Institute of America. She says "I loved being a Culinary Institute of American student. I was awed by every moment." Culinary Institute of America was a great place to study. Following graduation, Chef Burrell was in Italy for a whole year attending the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. Additionally, she worked at La Taverna del Lupo and La Bottega del 30 (a Michelin star restaurant) in Tuscany. Her time spent in Italy helped her to understand and appreciate the Italian tradition and philosophy, and has made an impact on her own food and culinary experience. Burrell is a well-known ambassador to the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation. She has been on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which assists kids with disabilities. as a speaker, guest and mentor, she travels around the U.S. to share her culinary passion and career. In her journey to culinary excellence, Anne has always said I feel extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to share my true passion in life with others.
